  Subtle Dialog For Access Workbench

Switching between Access 2003 and 2007 improved a lot with service pack 1 of Office 2007. Even with that improvement, there have been many times when on opening Access 2007, I wish I hadn't. The latest version of the Workbench reduces that issue by warning when you are switching from one Access executable to another so that you can stop.

10 Reasons Why IT Pros Hate Access (but Shouldn't)

Here is a really good summary of the cons and pros of Microsoft Access I will be using this article by Susan Harkins regularly for customers whose IT department has issues with Microsoft Access.

Here is a great quote from the article "If an Access database works its way up to the department or enterprise level, celebrate its triumph instead of trashing its creator. After all, if the database evolved and grew, your organization is growing, and that's good news for everyone."

A Review Of NitroPDF - A Terrific Example Of A Ribbon Interface

Nitro PDF is a really fun program to use and makes management of PDF files a breeze. In my view it is the best Ribbon interface that I have used. On of the reasons for this is that a Ribbon menu is most suited to the tasks of working on a PDF document.

Find Record Lookup Wizard in Access 2007

Recently I worked on a job where performance was woeful because there was too many tables with no indexes and really complex sub-forms. Oddly though the users would find records by moving through the main form record by record. When I setup a Find Record combo box, they were ecstatic. See some screen shots on how you setup one up and also find out some alternative code that I like even better.

Access 2007 Encryption and Passwords ~ How to go 128 bit

Hello Microsoft Access fans and skeptics. In this article, I am going to describe how you can improve on what already is a very significant security improvement in Access 2007, database encryption.

If you are wondering what would be the business reason for using password encryption, a jolly good reason would be theft by a third party who wouldn't have access to the password. Probably not a bad idea for laptop based databases. Read on

Organising Your Product Keys and CDs

This article is interesting becuase it talks about how to organise all the those programs and cds. For internet downloaded software, I always save both the full installs in a folder with a text or html file of the registration information in a folder called c:\WinSoft. I back this up regularly.

Microsoft to Support ODF and PDF in Service Pack of Office 07

This article says that Microsoft will include native support for PDF in Office 2007 service pack 2. Even with the requirement of a download for PDF, integration into Access 2007 for save report as PDF was one of the best things in the new product.

Here is a sample vba sendto PDF command

DoCmd.SendObject acSendReport, sRept, "PDFFormat(*.pdf)", sEmail, , "blaBla@blablabla.com.au", sSubject, sBody, True, ""
